People in Health West of England Learning and Development Programme – Enhanced Facilitation

In this workshop we’ll look at the planning required before facilitating an event, and the different roles involved in facilitation and co-facilitation.

The training also covers different ways of working and outlines strategies to overcome potential barriers / challenges to ensure that all meetings and / or workshops are effective.

Who can attend?

Anyone with an interest in public involvement in health and social care research, including public contributors, community organisations and researchers.

This event will be hosted online on Zoom; we will send a joining link at least a week before the workshop to the email address you used to register.

Presenters

This workshop will be delivered by Lucy Condon, Carmel McGrath and Louise Ting.

Lucy currently co-runs Bristol’s Gen-R Young People’s Advisory group (YPAG). The YPAG brings together young people between the ages of 10-19 to advise researchers, helping to ensure their work remains relevant and important to the young people their research includes/is aimed at.

As Public and Patient Involvement (PPI) Facilitator for the ARC West, Lucy supports the organisations public contributors and researchers with their public involvement practices ensuring public and patient voices are reflected throughout the organisation and work ARC west undertakes. Lucy has a particular interest in how creative processes can be used within public involvement to help facilitate meaning practice.

Carmel is a Senior Research Fellow in Public Involvement at NIHR ARC West and NIHR HPRU BSE. Since completing her PhD, Carmel has been involved in developing ways to better understand research priorities that are important to the wider community including the award- winning Health Research Ambassador programme and World Café events.

Louise has been involved in service delivery and health research from a patient and public perspective for over six years. She has a passion for ensuring that patient and public involvement (PPI) is done properly and is meaningful both for researchers and for public contributors. Louise is a member of the PPI Steering Group at the Centre for Academic Primary Care, University of Bristol.
