Hepatitis is the term used to describe inflammation of the liver. It’s usually the result of a viral infection or liver damage caused by drinking alcohol. Our research focuses on improving case-finding, prevention and elimination of viral hepatitis. We are collaborating with the HPRU in Blood Borne and Sexually Transmitted Infections at University College London on studies to estimate the cost-effectiveness of novel hepatitis C and hepatitis B case-finding pathways – such as through pharmacies, homeless services, prison and A&E. We have a specific focus on strategies that can also help achieve HIV elimination among people who inject drugs.
